     Date:   Nov. 20 (Thu) - 21(Fri), 2003
            (Pre-workshop tutorials on Nov. 19 for Korean participants)
     Place:  Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea)

  As the complexity of the application domains for the embedded software
  systems increases, new industry and research challenges are encountered
  for achieving desired level of quality and productivity goals.

  To meet those desires, engineering principals of embedded software
  became important issues. The aim of workshop is to bring together
  researchers and developers from academia, industry, and government to
  advance the engineering, and technology in embedded software
  development.

  Through discussions of the latest research, issues, and trends, this
  workshop will allow researchers and developers working on different
  aspects to get together and synergize.

  We are asking to participants to submit a position paper in one of
  following categories in the context of embedded software and will form
  a session for presentation and discussions of each category.

   - Process/Project Management:
        CMM, SPICE, Costing, Planning etc
   - Testing/Quality Control:
        Testcase generation, QA, Environment simulation, Reliability etc
   - Development Tools/Methods:
        Real-Time UML, CASE, Components, Formal method, etc
   - New Paradigm for Embedded System Development:
        Product Line, Agent Technology, Adaptable Architecture

Call for Participation
----------------------

The purpose of this workshop is to synergize various research ideas and
industrial experiences through intensive discussions. The product will
be post-workshop report: compiled document of presentation slides and
record of discussions.

The workshop will be organized as mostly-invitation-only style. Those
who want to participate the workshop are requested to submit a position
statement in one of following categories in the context of embedded
software and will form a session for presentation and discussions of
each category.

   (1) Process/Project Management
   (2) Testing/Quality Control
   (3) Development Tools/Methods
   (4) New Paradigm for Embedded System Development

(We expect to have 10-15 participants from Japan)

Registration Fee ( for Japanese ): 30,000 Yen

Accommodation: 15 rooms are reserved at the guesthouse of Ewha Women's
        University (Located in walking distance from Yonsei University)
        for Japanese participants (3 nights: Nov 19-21). Lodging fee is
        about 3,000 Yen/night.
