Panelist Panel-2: SungYang Bang (POSTECH, Korea) Professor Bang is a professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Director of Central Library at Pohang Univesity of Science and Technology. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Kyoto University in 1966, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National Univesity in 1969, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Texas at Austin in 1974. He worked for many organizations including Bell Labs, NCR, Wayne State University and Korea Institute of Electronic Technology. He joined the university when it was founded in 1986. He previously worked in the database area and was involved in Unix machine development in Korea. He was the first president of Korea Unix Users Group. His current research interests are neural networks and character recognition. He was the second president of Asia and Pacific Assembly for Neural Information Processing. S. Y.
