-------------------------------------------- Mon Mar 28 18:18:13 JST 2001 -- Call for Papers ISFST2001 International Symposium on Future Software Technology 2001 November, 5-7, 2001 ZhengZhou (Capital of Henan Province), China Co-sponsored by SEA, UNU/IIST, ZhengZhou Univ, and Henan Univ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the 6-th symposium dedicated to the future software technology, which has been held in China since 1996. It is organized by SEA (Software Engineers Association of Japan), UNU/IIST (International Institute of Software Technology of United Nations University), ZhengZhou University (China), and Henan University (China). The symposium will bring together researchers, practitioners, and educators in the leading-edge software technologies. Last year, ISFST-2000 was held in August, but usually ISFSTs have been held in October-November period. So, this year's symposium will be held in November as usual. The theme of the ISFST2001 is: "First Step of Software Technology in 21st Century". The unique feature of the ISFST symposium is that the program includes informal but intensive working-group style discussion sessions besides regular paper presentations. In the case of ISFST2001, the second day of the symposium will be assigned for full-day working-group discussions. Topics: Suggested topics include, but are not limited to: Software development method/tools Software process (modeling/management) Web-related technologies Database/Datawarehouse New application technologies Software component and architecture Formal methods/approaches Testing and verification System evolution and maintenance Human aspects of computer application Paper Submission: Submissions for a full paper or an extended abstract should be received no later than end of June, 2001 by one of the Program Co-Chairs: Submissions should contain the type of the submission (Full [5000 words] or Extended-Abstract [1500 words]), title, author names and their affiliation and address, abstract, and a list of keywords, followed by the text. Electronic submissions (postscript or Word RTF) are welcome. Six copies are required for paper submission in case of surface mail. Submissions via FAX are not accepted. All submissions should be accompanied with cover-sheet information electronically sent to the Program Chair. The e-mail must include: title, author names, abstract, a list of keywords, the type of the submission (full paper or extended abstract), and the corresponding address of the first author (name, postal address, e-mail address, and phone and fax numbers). Paper selection will be based on originality and contribution to the topics. Accepted papers will appear in the symposium proceedings if it is presented by the author at the symposium. Acceptance notice will be sent to the first author by August 15, 2001. Authors of accepted papers will be required to submit their camera-ready electronic copy by September 20, 2001. Proceedings of ISFST2001 will be printed as the original ones. Henan is located in the Yellow River basin where the man began to multiply in remote antiquity. As early as in the New Stone Age, the dawn of civilization began to appear in Henan. The elegant pottery of the Peiligang Culture and Yangshao Culture and the character symbols and musical instruments with a history of 8,000 years sufficiently surpass the ancients and amaze the contemporaries. Located in the central plain area, the hinterland of China, Henan remained the political, economic and cultural center of the whole country for a long time. There is an old saying that conqueror of the central plain area is the conqueror of the whole country. During the over 3,500 years from the Xia Dynasty, the 21st century B.C., to the Jin Dynasty, the 11th century, more than 20 dynasties with more than 200 emperors set up the capital city in Henan. Millions of pieces of historic relics left in the long process of history, including remains of the Xia Dynasty, bronze wares of the Warring States Period, stone carvings of the Han Dynasty, ancient battlefield of the Three Kingdoms Period, Buddhist temples of the Northern Wei Dynasty, grottoes of the Sui and Tang dynasties, old city of the Northern Song Dynasty, temples of the Ming Qing dynasties, represent cultural essence of various dynasties and make Henan, a vast land of 167,000 square kilometers, a huge natural historic museum. Zhengzhou: Ancient and Rising Commercial City Located at the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, Zhengzhou is the capital of Henan Province. Beijing-Guangzhou and Lanzhou-Lianyungang railways hub here. it owns the biggest railway marshalling yard in the Asia and the longest bulk cargo yard transfer station in China. The newly-built Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport has, opened flights to over 30 big and medium- sized cities in the country including Hong Kong, and tourist chartered airplane flights to Japan, Singapore. With 371 whole-sale markets including state grain wholesale market, Zhengzhou agricultural machinery exchange market, Zhengzhou is a famous commercial and trade city. The city of Zhengzhou came into shape more than 3,500 years ago. Its tourist attractions include the Songshan Shaolin Temple, Yellow River cultural group with Yellow River Scenic Spot, the Yellow River Grand View and Dahecun Village Remains as main, the root-seeking and respects-paying tour with Xuanyuan=92s Native Place, Yellow Emperor=92s Palace, Yellow Emperor and Emperor Yan. Luoyang: Capital of 9 dynasties and peony city The ancient capital city of Luoyang lies 120 kilometers west of Zhengzhou. It takes 1.5 hours from Zhengzhou to Luoyang by bus. Luoyang is one of the seven ancient capitals in China. Beginning from 21st century B.C., 12 dynasties, namely Xia, Shang, Eastern Zhou, Eastern Han, Cao Wei, Western Jin, Nortern Wei, Sui, Tang, Later Liang, Later Tang and Later Jin set up their capital here, lasting more than 1,200 years in total. Luoyang is the well-known city of peony and has the fame as Luoyang peony is the finest under heaven. Its main tourist attractions include Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple, Guan Forest, Ancient Tomb Museum and Monk Xuanzhuang Native Place. Kaifeng: the Ancient Capital City of Bianjing Kaifeng was called Daliang, or Bianjing in ancient time. Being made the capital city successively by 7 dynasties in history. Kaifeng is famed as the Capital City of Bianjing of 7 dynasties. In Kaifeng there are a large quantity of historic relics, among which the major ones are the Iron Pagoda (The iron Pagoda also called the Youguo Temple Pagoda, was first built in the first year of Huangyou under the reign of Emperor, the highest one among the extant glazed pagoda in China), the Dragon Pavilion, the Xiangguo Temple, the Memorial Temple of Lord Bao, the Pota Pagoda, the Shanxi-Shanxi Gansu Guildhall, the Yanqing Temple, King Yu Terrace and the Pan-Yang Lake, the Lord Bao Lake. With the famous Fanlou Storied Building in the north end, two magnificent watchtowers in the south end, imitation Song Dynasty style storied buildings and pavilions along it, the newly built Imperial Street of the Capital City of the Song Dynasty has started business.
